GCA Alumna Organizes Walk for Freedom in Irving, TX

Jessica Estrada, Dallas County Community College District, North Lake College (Alumna of Global Citizenship Faculty and Administrators Seminar 12, 2017):

“(…) We had more than 150 participants show up to raise awareness for human trafficking through A21’s annual awarenes and fundraising event, Walk For Freedom. We surpassed our fundraising goal of $5,000 and raised $6,819. (…) A21 is a global nonprofit that has been fighting against modern-day slavery for the last 10 years. They have 14 offices in 12 different countries. This year was their 5th Walk For Freedom, and more than 450 cities and more than 30,000 individuals around the world participated on October 20 in their local cities to make a global impact.

We are thrilled over the success of the event here in our city and college. Several students volunteered and participated, and many citizens from the community came out as well. (…) Thank you for inspiring us to globalize our college and beyond!”
